Natalie Harris Design's collections are a reflection of a design philosophy that meshes her appreciation for the dramatic with a sensibility that appeals to modern women. Classics are updated with unexpected touches. Inspirational cues are drawn from such concepts as classical art, traditional costumes, flora, trends, and her muse, the Jet-setting American woman.
Her diverse designs accentuate the best features of each woman, instilling a confident glow. That is the common thread between swimwear and bridal: a constant drive to surpass expectations when women are most critical: shopping for swimwear or the most memorable dress of a lifetime. The understanding of the needs of these women keeps Natalie in the best of up and coming designers.
It was my junior year in high school, with Prom around the corner. I had the perfect dress in mind...but it didn't exist. With strengths in fine arts and years of sewing experience already, I realized my calling. I call myself one of those lucky few who knew my career path with absolute certainty; this is what I must do.
After graduating from Purdue University's Apparel Design & Technology program, I moved from rural Indiana to Houston to meet more modern brides and fashionistas. Houston's energy continues to inspire more incredible fashion for the modern woman seeking something just a bit different. With my own 2007 wedding, I learned more about the overwhelming decisions facing today's bride. Five years in a local bridal salon provided the advantage you won't find from just a tailor, an intuitive knowledge of the desires of modern brides. Similarly, Jet Set Swim targets the fashionable yet busy woman with great one-piece styles and coordinating coverups designed to flatter and garner attention.
With the summer of 2011, I transitioned to designing full-time, and enthusiastically anticipate this next chapter. Natalie Harris Design will soon launch Damsel White Label, a debut bridal collection showcasing the designer's signature mash-ups of quirk and elegance. Offerings have also expanded with custom pageant design and flowergirls.
